About this spot
The birthplace of Philippine surfing, where the surf scene began after Hollywood filmed 'Apocalypse Now' here in the 1970s and left boards behind. Sabang's long gray-sand beach facing the Pacific has beginner-friendly waves most of the year, with surf schools renting boards and instructors right on the sand. Stronger swells at nearby Cemento Beach draw experienced surfers. Laid-back, affordable and full of surf-town charm.
