Apo Reef Natural Park

About

Apo Reef is the Philippines' largest coral reef system and the big-league dive and snorkel trip of Mindoro. Sablayan's bangkas cross to Apo Island, a palm-shaded islet with a century-old mangrove lagoon and a lighthouse, then drop you over walls and coral gardens where sharks, turtles, stingrays, mantas and big schools of jacks hang out. Snorkel the shallows, dive the walls, explore the mangrove lagoon, climb up to the lighthouse, and stay overnight in a tent under a crazy-good starry sky. It is an ASEAN Heritage Park, and since 2026 the marine heart of Sablayan's UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Pro tip: book the boat and permit with the Sablayan Tourism Office at least three working days ahead, bring cash and power banks, and go between March and early June for the calmest seas.
