Mount Gulugod Baboy
About
Gulugod Baboy means pig's backbone, and the grassy ridge really looks like one! This beginner-friendly hike above Anilao rewards you with a wide sea view over the Verde Island Passage, with Batangas Bay, Balayan Bay and the Mindoro hills on a clear day. Walk up through village paths and forest patches onto open grassland, then pitch a tent at the summit campsite for sunset and stars. Start before dawn for a sunrise climb, and pair it with a beach or dive day in Anilao. The ridge has almost no shade and strong wind, so bring at least three liters of water, a hat and sunscreen, and stake your tent firmly.
