Corregidor Island
About
Step onto The Rock, the island fortress that guarded Manila Bay in World War II! Corregidor is one of Asia's most important war sites, and a guided tour brings it to life. Ride the tranvia past war ruins and giant gun batteries like Battery Way and Battery Hearn, then walk into Malinta Tunnel, the bomb-proof shelter that became headquarters for General MacArthur and the Philippine President. Finish at the Pacific War Memorial and the lighthouse for sweeping bay views. Today the trip starts in Mariveles, Bataan, with a quick 20-minute boat ride across. Tours are pre-booked day trips, so reserve ahead and leave Manila early. Tip: pack water, snacks and sunscreen, because there is no food for sale on the island!
