Rizal Shrine (Jose Rizal Birthplace)

About

This is where the national hero was born! Jose Rizal came into the world on June 19, 1861, in this two-storey bahay na bato in the heart of Calamba. The house you see is a faithful rebuild, painted in its classic green and white, with capiz windows, a grand stairway and rooms filled with family furniture, household pieces and Rizal memorabilia. Out back, the garden has a bahay kubo and a statue of young Pepe with his dog. Entry is free, it takes about an hour, and it pairs perfectly with a hot-spring or Los Banos day!
