Puraran Beach (Majestic Puraran)

No car needed

About

This is Catanduanes' surfing capital, and the views are wild! Puraran Beach faces the Pacific, where the big waves called Majestic roll in for surfers from around the world. You do not have to surf to love it: sit on the sand, watch the barrels, swim in the calmer pools, and eat fresh lobster and seafood at small beachfront eateries. Rocky islets sit just off the shore and make great photos. Tip: the best surf is usually September to October (and the beach is quiet outside that), so go for sunrise walks in the dry months and always ask locals about the currents before you swim.
