Baluarte Zoo
About
Baluarte is the big mini-zoo and safari park of Chavit Singson, about 15 minutes by tricycle from Calle Crisologo. Spot the giant BALUARTE sign on the stone terraces, the life-size dinosaur statues, and ostriches and deer roaming the open grounds, plus camels, crocodile ponds, iguanas and caged big cats. Inside the Safari Gallery you'll find the hunting trophies Singson collected around the world. It's a fun break for kids between heritage stops. Come in the morning while animals are active and before the Ilocos heat peaks, and bring an umbrella because shade is limited.
