About this spot

Hugely famous and hugely debated. Early every morning, boatmen feed whale sharks near the shore in Tan-awan, so visitors can snorkel just meters from these gentle giants. Many travelers call it a once-in-a-lifetime moment, while conservationists and many Reddit travelers criticize the feeding for changing the sharks' natural behavior. If you go, follow the rules: no touching, no flash, keep your distance, no sunscreen in the water.
